This subject keeps coming up within various threads, so in an effort to collate all info together I am starting this topic.

The information is relevant at the time that this is posted and may need checking before purchasing in the future.

In an effort to keep things tidy, if you have any information about tyre sizes please post it and I will attempt to pull all of the info into this first post.

I will begin with screen shots taken today from a few manufacturers:

Toyo R888's

Kumho V70 - I hadn't posted this previously as there is little information in the table as to the sizes of the tyres - here it is though:

hi there

thanks for taking the time to put all this info together, but i,am not sure what size tyre i need. i have a pair of genuine minilite rims that i eventually want to use on the rear of my car the size being 13x9 . what i need to know is the actual width and  profile size of the tyre ie 225x 50 or 235 x 55 etc , i have 175x50 on 7inch rims at the front so would like the profiles to match, as near as possible anyway, (so as not to look like a tractor lol) any help much appreciated thanks

You can work out the size of the profile/sidewall height from the sizes you have quoted.

The profile/sidewall height is a ratio/percentage of the width, for example a 225x50 is 225 times 0.5 = 112.5mm sidewall, 235x55 is 235 times 0.55 = 129.5mm sidewall

Most of the sizes above include the rolling diameter which will also give you the sidewall height ((rolling diameter minus 13"(330.2mm) divided by 2).

I hope my explanation is clear enough....

If not you can always google tyre size calculator, like this one: http://www.tyresizec...tire-dimensions

You need a 225/45 13" tyre.

Like the Toyo R888 for example...

Added to the list. I was aware of the Kumho V70's but hadn't added them as their information is lacking detail but its on there now.

The Toyo R888 work well on the road, just get a harder compound. 225/45 R13.

Just picked up a set of lightly used Avon ZZR's for very cheap, 215/55 R13.  Its the only thing I could get in the US that was close to the right size and road legal so I can get this monster inspected and on the road!

The limiting factor is the clearance on the rear radius arm. With a 13" wheel, the maximum sidewall depth is just under 90 mm. So a 225/40 would just fit, or a 235/35, if either of those sizes are available. A 205/40 might just go on

It may be that the only tyre you will get with that sort of ultra-low profile will be a racing slick which would not be road-legal.

A very wide tyre with a road compound will not work too well in the wet on a very light car like a Mini, but would be good on ultra smooth dry tarmac.
