Have you taken this over as "your" car? We haven't seen one pic of your toppie with a tool in his hand.
Ag, he's done so much for me with other things that I felt like I should help out. He's been helping though, told him I can't do it alone

That's the thing with father's. Cool combined project that way though.

All windows are now out. A couple more things and then it's time to make a start on the body.

Gave the car a wash inside and out today - got rid of a lot of dirt!
Engine bay looks a lot better now :
Still had the sealant around all the floor grommets etc. :
Lastly, it seems there were thin lines of black paint around the window frame at the front and by the heater lip outlets :

I'm amazed at how clean everything looks. The engine bay has less rust and damage than most minis that I've seen on the road.

I can't wait to get the subframes off and see what I find. The front frame still has its green-sprayed MOWOG on the front section.

Thanks! That's a possibility as well, in terms of the head, but the more likely thought is that it is off a GTS Clubman (local performance option in the day).

This is one very special car. Make sure to measure up the decals before removing them. Also if you can save all those neat stickers in the engine bay (and any others in the interior and boot) that'd be cool. Otherwise it'd be nice if you could recreate them from the photos.

Definitely want to measure the stickers - their placement measurement is vital as well.
I'll do what I can to save as much as I can. Don't want to overdo everything.

Could you just real in the door would be a lot cheaper ?
A decent secondhand item isn't expensive out here. Should be able to pick one up easily enough.
