Guys,

 

I need your help.

 

I am finishing the Vtec car and with the last test drive did this afternoon..... The gearshifter broke. I had a feeling this could happen. Seems to me there was a little error in fabrication. Nevertheless I need a new one and I don't know which car it is from.

I don't know if it is from the same donor as the K series car since have a B series conversion.....

 

Does the side pin fit the other (broken) pin or is it one piece? 

 

Pics included. Hope Steve or someone from Zcars is reading this too.

Hope I can fix his fast. I was planning on taking it to the garage for APK next week. Jykes!

They are a fiat part modified for our purpose, there used to be a steel part available but they all seem to have dried up now unfortunately. 

the part that has broken is a thread held in place with Loctite so you may be able to remove the broken part with a screw extractor and a little patience

if not drop me a line and I should be able to supply a replacement

I dropped it off at work for the boys at the shop to try if they can take the broken part out.... Hope it works.

 

if that won't work I'll drop you a line Steve. (thumbs up!)

 

It seemed that if I put the car in reverse the gear lever was lifted up onto the holding plate for the gear lever mechanism. Making it snap eventually.... Does any of you Zcars owners have the same issue? (If it isn's clear enough I can post a picture)

 

Will report back of course.

Fixed!

They got it out and I replaced it. Shortened the gear shifter and realligned the cables. Works like a sharm now and the shifter is clear of the plate in every gear.

Car is ready for APK now. Wednesday will be the day. Hope nothing big will come up so I can go DRIVING.
