Currently building a 3 synchro gearbox. From what I understand it's quite a early one, but fundamentally the 'b type' 3 sync box? - The gears on the mainshaft run on bushes with oil grooves etc.
After sourcing the correct 1st motion shaft (with the bearing situated deeper than the later 3 sync ones), I am having trouble finding the correct bearing to fit.

The mainshaft has a 1/2" (ish) shank for the 1st/3rd motion nose bearing to sit on; the later 3 sync has a larger shaft. On the minispares website, the technical drawings seem to display the bearing I need, however it has the same part number as the one I don't want. The photo and measurements also confirm it to be incorrect.

Does anyone know where to find this bearing, or at least know what I'm on about?  :P  I might give guessworks a try.

2a3708 first casing. 22a104 second casing. 22a145 third casing.
All these had cone brass synchos.
Think they all had the same laygear.
What casing is urs

Just to throw another bearing in to the mix, I also have a listing for a 2A3709.

I haven't had much to do the 3 Scynchro Boxes, but just checking through the factory info on them there is no noted change of the first motion shaft bearing until the introduction of the all synchro box, however, I'm fairly sure that's incorrect.

GW will know.

I'll have a look tomorrow at the casing and take a photo or two. Cheers

Ahh, think I've found my answer :/
An extract from a minispares article: "The A type 3rd motion shaft (main shaft) has a smaller nose to accept the 1st motion shaft which has a fixed sleeve bearing which is obsolete and not replaceable."

The Bearing you are after (1st Motion Shaft Bearing to suit the 22G68 Case) is the 2A3709.

If your stuck getting one, send me a PM.

Are you sure? A quick search returns 3 sync single roller which isn't what I'm looking for.

Ah OK, got ya now!!  Factory call it Bearing - Needle Roller - Third Motion Shaft, however it;s probably more commonly known as a 3rd Motion Shaft Nose Bearing.

It's a 22G314, however I'm hitting brick walls on it.

Try GW or if you can accurately measure the shaft OD and length and 1st motion shaft ID we'll see if it can be tracked down.

Or try these guys;-
