So, here is my latest purchase. Its a 1976 MK3, one of the last.  It started life as a 998cc, but has had a 1275 Metro lump put in. It was Zierbart'ed from new, so has done rather well at surviving, although there are a few patches of serious rust, that shall be addressed!   No idea on the colour, its faded quite bad!, but I'm a fan of it patina so shan't be resprayed anytime soon.  Plans for this are retro 70's/80's style mods and to keep it simple, and to use it as my daily.

Here it is, the day when it arrived

After a few mods and started rust tackling;

Nice project, prefer it when you first got it though, doesn't look forced.

Looks great, not a fan of the seats, steering wheel and rear bumper bits. Looks better without the hubcaps though

:-). The appear to be Bosch H4 Conversions, pretty flat, then I've added a set of stone guard a guy at work have me, that he had on his old Turbo Mini.

Cheers mate! The fate of the Mayfair remains unknown, my parents are likely to have it to be honest!

Cheers! I'm just adding my own touch to it, it won't be changing massive

Thanks man, steering wheel is always hit and miss haha. Bumper sticker is off :P

:D thanks, I'm trying to make it my own, but also simple!

So, I fancy a wheel change, I've had reverse rims for ages and want something more special, so I'm getting some tyres put on these; courtesy of megamini_jb :D

Saw this on ebay couple of weeks ago, was tempted to have a bid myself. It looks like its full of potential! Are you gunna loose the KA seats?

Oh yeah :D forgot about them. They'll look spot on on this mini. Lowered a bit more and with your roof rack on. Damn I can see that now

I'm after some advice, I've got two major bits of rust, by the rear bin, above the factory sling mount, and under the headlight. Obviously the sling mount bit will have to be patched for the MOT, but anyone got the best way to go about it? I know it needs to be cut out, but just general advice really :-)

I'm glad you didn't and didn't put the price up anymore  :P haha, but cheers! Yeh, KA seats will be going as soon I've sourced another set!

Thanks mate, thats what I'm hoping  :D! I found the front has HiLo's and rear will be on this weekend!

How much of a poke around have you had for rust in other areas?  As you know, rather like icebergs what you see on the surface is only the tip of the problem! good luck though, it looks like it will be a great car.

So been doing abit of work to it, getting it ready for it's MOT. Got the wipers, washers, brake lights and indicators working. Also, brought a set of 70's front seats to replace the Ka ones, huge improvement! Also replaced the quickshift gear linkage and made some skateboard wheel window winders. Rear floor is getting patched this week and tyres are being swapped so hopefully ready for MOT soon!

Been doing a bit more work to this.  Got the hole patched, only to find more rust , along the rear heelboard seam, so that's going to have to get sorted.  Put a set of tyres on the ATS', so I now have legal tread! Also been undersealing rear arches and floors/ sills.

Changed the rear drums to spaced Minifin's. It had non spaced Minifin's before with 1" spacers which left next to no thread on the studs for nuts to thread on to  :ohno:

I wasn't planning on putting a roof rack on, but I got given the old 70's one by a mates dad, a waaay prefer it to my Desmo

I shouldn't really be worrying about cosmetics, but I needed some door pulls so made some from some tags...

Using skateboard wheels for the window winders is genius! The wheels look great!

Love all the little touches that this car is getting. That Speedwell S badge on the bonnet is also really cool :)
