Making some progress and fixing broken things, always good :) Any idea how the lock nuts came loose?

Only a little progress! Not sure on the locknuts, its done 1200 miles since the alignment so not sure if they've been loose since then or if they rattled loose

I think if you're getting bored with it the best thing you can do is make it look pretty.
Get the front sprayed/ replaced with metal if you're not keeping the fg and polish it all up.
Then you'll want to show it off

Metal / colour coded front is on the list, though I'm content with the faded look as I hate cleaning and polishing cars, much rather have a tatty one that I dont mind leaving anywhere and doing some rally driving in than to be worried about paintwork lol

So MITP was this weekend, overall I enjoyed myself, camping was fun, got a decent amount of seat time down the strip, and I'm really pleased with my best times! Little bit of trouble on the way home however with the constabulary, they were behind then in front of out little convoy from milton keynes to bicester, then decided to pull me. It was bound to happen  :teehee: Wheels protruding, headlights covered, one wiper, no front plate and sharp edges on the front of the car. The guy was really good about it to be honest, though he made me leave it there and go get another set of wheels and come back and change them, but 3hrs of hassle is better than any points or fines I guess..

Dam I knew it was you I saw on the strip at the pod! Well wanted to see this beast in the flesh but couldt find it after you had done your run and even dragged the girlfriend about to try and find you! :(

Shame about the police but you really were asking for it by running with no plate!

Good times to beat tho!

haha thanks mate! I was on a club stand, though was queuing for the strip for a quite a lot of the morning! Yeh it was only a matter of time, the wheel poke was well in the "taking the p*ss" section, I actually had the plate in the boot lol :D I'm just lucky that it wasn't impounded it or sent it to vosa :?

Since the conversion my gearstick has always been a bit awkward in its position and throw. In 3rd you were basically on the ignition key and 4th above the handbrake, so to sort this I make a quickshift for it, by adding an inch in and raising the mount, its not alot but make a hell of a difference (ask any female  :P ) Makes the car much nicer to drive. Also found a load of pictures from the mitp photographer which are really good. Retro rides gathering this weekend, anyone on here going?

I did the Retro Rides Gathering this past weekend, was lucky enough to go up the hill :D Great fun! Few photos and a video from the day, I took none myself on my phone, so have stolen these off instagram. After feeling a bit bored of the car, driving it hard has made me really enjoy it now makes the work put in feel worth it! Had a bit of a play with a m3 on way round some openish country roads, he looked rather confused why a little old mini was keeping up round the bends around triple figures

And yes, I am wary of the police, so took 2 sets of wheels, even got a picture of me changing them lol  ;D

Some neat pictures there. Must have been really fun keeping up with the M3. Why is the Mini in pieces again? That Hilman Imp looks neat!

Thanks man :-) I was going to do Combe, but Trax at silverstone is the day after which I'm doing instead, I've taken the loom out of it, back to the dash, to get it converted to later Rover mems3 management

haha yeh man it was a bit of a handful  Lot of wheel spin and torque steer, but sooo fun!

Thanks Vin, I've taken the wiring out of it! Yeh the imp was lovely, still on its little 875 motor, but a real nice classic look

The car is now converted to later mems3 engine management from mems2. The main bonus of this means the car can now be remapped. The early/late engines are practically identical theres just a few sensors that need to be swapped over as well as the entire engine loom! I bought an already remapped ecu with a fan fault, but it still functions so should be 170bhp now, with pops and bangs on the overrun  :mrcool:

Also later management meant I could put on something that I always wanted, an omex limiter with launch control :D Its more of a gimmick that functional thing to me and really I’m just hoping for flames and the best bit is it cost less than half price 2nd hand, just need to wire it in

I’ve got Trax at Silverstone in a couple of weekends, but then the car is undergoing some changes over winter, getting a makeover :P

Also found this sick photo from retrorides, probably my favourite photo of the car I think

Thanks chaps, and dont worry it wont be painted, ever :D

Went to Trax at silverstone this weekend, did a 20 min track session again, was good fun despite the rain, I had it sideways a few times and caught it but I did spin it twice  :shy: So thats it, tucked back into the garage and retired for this year, theres a big list to do (nothing major, just cosmetics ;D) though I've bought a new project too, I was dead set on a RX7 FC, but I couldnt find one for love nor money, I had money burning a hole in my pocket, so went for something complelty different, an old Polo  O_O
