If I were one of the passengers (unlikely), I think I'd have at least used the seat belt... I pity whoever they eventually hit.

I guess if you've faced a tsunami and the odd monsoon going 3 abreast with a couple of tuktuks in the face of the oncoming traffic doesn't seem such a fatalistic risk?

I doubt a bunch of wealthy young chaps from Sri Lanka would be thinking even that far....just like they couldn't give a flying wotsit about the lives of everybody else on the road. Selfish idiots.

The driving in Sri Lanka is insane at the best of times

Quite pathetic, very dangerous, pointless, and what a waste of a good mini if they all kill themselves.

I was on a speed awareness couse for work last week.
Apprently in the UK an average of 10 people are killed a day on the roads. 95% of these being preventable due to poor judgment, the over 5% include things like weather (which can also be deemed as driver error as they weren't driving to the conditions)
On average, each death on the road costs £1.5 million due to all resources needed.
Going on some of the statisitcs from abroad in countries like that, its just dumb and as above person said, its natural selection... just unfortunate other people get caught in the cross-fire be it passenger or other road users.
