Then painted one of the doors, unfortunately not got enough room in the painting area to do both at same time

Close up of finish, got a few nibs to flat out but happy with it

Then as I couldn’t do anymore in paint area decided to strip and clean the h4 carbs I had purchased, surprised as they were in perfect condition under the dirt, they are off an mga so have fitted the 30 deg bowl on lh carb, and started to modify to fit mini manifold, still have a few things to do, have ordered other bowl and parts I need to complete the rebuild today so hopefully get them ready and packed away for safe keeping shortly

Put some paint on the other door this morning, and popped to mini spares to get a few more bits for the carbs, still need to sort the throttle return springs and choke connections but looking better now.

I got them for a good price but we’re very dirty, after stripping and cleaning they have no wear at all including the shafts and bushes, so not worth replacing them. Even the fuel filters on top of bowl were spotless, so I doubt they have seen much use. Only issue being off an mga I have had to source a few parts for linkage and both the bowls as mini ones are 30 deg and mga 20 deg, luckily the one is off an early morris minor so easy to get, the other had to stump up burlen cost, but at least they are now a nice set.
Got a nicely ported head to suit and will use an lcb, basically am trying to replicate the downton touring conversion as a nice period modification. But I have always liked the look of h4 carbs over hs carbs, so just wanted a set. Undecided on either open trumpets or the healey type filters to be period correct, plenty of time to decide though.

I know it may be a bit of a hassle, but I like the idea and the look of open trumpets, especially on something like twin H4s.
