That's such a cool repair, it looks seamless and you can't even see the welds.

The boot floor is nearing completion now and the valance closing panels are fitted too.

I have also rebuilt the n/s radius arm, fitted new hydro pipe sleeves and a new rebound buffer. Gave everything a check over and degreased the entire subframe assembly.

Ill post up pictures soon, things have been rather hectic lately!

Hi Ben, how was the radius arm?  I've been filling it with grease for a few years as the inner tube thing was split :shy:  Glad the hydro pipe sleeves are back on now.  Was there one on there on one side?

Hi Paul.

The radius are was fine. I cleaned it all right out replaced the split tube and the needle roller bearing and re-assembled it to the sub frame.

There wasn't a hydro pipe sleeve on either side but i did notice that there should be a retaining plate which I was going to contact you about and find out of you wanted them.

They are http://minispares.co...|Back to search

I noticed that the outer braiding on one of the hydro pipes is worn but as its part of the displacer and they are NLA, there isn't much we can do unfortunately.

It isn't damaged much though so will be fine I expect.

Cheers

Ben

Hi Ben, OK for the Hydro retainers, lets get it right.  I have a set of spare hydro units.  You can get them re-hosed but I'll cross that bridge when it comes!  WOuld you be able to send me a photo of it sometime?

Looking forward to the next photo install.  :shades:

Here is a photo of the worn braiding on the hydro hose.

As previously said, I removed the left radius arm

And then after sorting out the grease tube, it was re-assembled

And then the whole lot was de-greased

And the boot floor is getting there now. I have straightened it as much as I can. the boot board brackets have now been welded in and I had to make up some new loom tabs to fit as the existing ones had fatigued on the fold and were about to snap

It's 100 times better than it was but that nasty rear section that had been previously fitted could only be straightened out so far.

But it's sound and tidy now and nice to see the back of the random drilled holes here and there :-)

If it was mine, although it looks sound I'd have the battery box changed as well. The one currently fitted is some cheap jobby and doesn't have the correct pressing on the bottom panel.
