Hi everyone, just introducing myself on here.
I am the proud owner of a BRG rover mini Cooper RSP, currently under restoration.
Today I brought my 2nd mini lol and 1980 clubman estate and I'll be making a thread about that later :-)

Talk soon

Welcome.

Good to see another RSP owner.

Is it on the register?

Welcome. Great choice but wrong colour :( the first thing you need to know about the RSP is that black is best. :)

Look forward to the pics

Hi all,not wanting to hijack the thread but firstly hello all, and thank you for all your help before hand 😀
You've probably all heard this a thousand times, but I'm trying to venture into the world of RSP. i have a question, I know the main differences between RSP and mainstream, and chassis/engine numbers confirm all, but I have seen a couple of variations inside with the door handles, window winders etc. Are they meant to be black plastic or silver metal with "John Cooper" etched in??? Please help 😀

Both.

Black plastic is the factory standard but JC are a period option.

Great, as easy as that thank you. What about the half leather seats, I've seen then with the leather running eat her side, but also mostly single strip along the front? Oh and it's BRG, everyone know green is faster!!

Red is the fastest. That is why John Cooper chose red for his own RSP.

The leather runs along the front of the seat and on the top of the back. There is also a tag with a Mini Cooper logo.

The original door furniture was black plastic. Strictly speaking the door furniture available from John Cooper did not have signatures at that time. This feature was introduced later, but otherwise they were identical. The only identifying mark was the (John) Cooper badge on the centre of the window winder. At that time the only item available with the signature was the Moto-Lita steering wheel.

The Mini Cooper register used to produce a booklet listing all the differences between mainstream cars and RSP's.

Ok, nice nice to meet you all, now the decision, in everyone's opinion, how much more are the RSPs worth??? Big question. I'm thinking on sinking 4k into one that still has an up to date mot and looks good. Is this a bit too much just now??? Un bios answers from all you copper fans please

So many different factors. Delivery mileage RSPs are being offered for around £20k by dealers but without takers. The most realistic price at the upper end was obtained recently for a beautiful lowish mileage (red) RSP with John Cooper S conversion for £17500 and worth every penny. I have seen it close up.

Occasionally bargains slip through on eBay but £4k sounds very reasonable for a good one.
