One of the front hubs on the Midas project had been attacked with a grinder for some reason. I have no idea why.
They had also done this to the castellated nut. It was finger-tight to undo...
The mind boggles.

You can see the clutch reservoir is attached by tie wraps. You cannot see the piece of broomstick used as a spacer for the slave cylinder, also held in by tie wraps. And that was just the start.

When we bought the pickup, many many years ago, 90% of the drivers side outer A panel was made of filler, it was 1/4" thick in places!
We bought it from a body shop in Chesterfield, think they went bust years ago
That's worse than finding an oversill attached with Tiger SealLeft a Copy of Spandau Ballets greatest hits in the CD player
True.

The previous owner of one of my mini's had painted the outside with rattle cans. The back half black and the front half yellow and then a harsh diagonal fade between the two.
All the shuts and the inside were still the original vermillion and it looked awful.
That finished off with a coupe of 13" metro wheels on the back and 10" mini wheels on the front made for a truly shocking looking mini.
I have a picture somewhere..
now THIS i must see, it sounds simply glorious!

The thing was a death trap, no other way to describe it. It fooled me as well, I didn't think it was bad at all when I bought it. It hadn't long been off the road either, an accident in it just didn't bear thinking about.

well...firstly the last owner of my mini sold it to me ...pretty stupid but thats just the beginning .......
the scuttle was full of rubber and a patch had been welded over the seam lines
theres 3 outer sills...per side
any welding or patching thats been done has been done with sheet metal thats gotta be between 3 and 5 mm thick the car weighs a ton
all the patches are welded on with to much weld...an inch thick weld in the suspension turrets
one outer over sill is riveted on to the middle outer sill which is riveted to the rotten original sill
a few of the patches were screwed on
theres filler everywhere and far too much sealer to hide the rust er i mean expert repairs

oh and they replaced the door mounting panel with the afore mentioned armour plating and on the drivers door they put the holes in the wrong place which means i cant use it to line any new panels up lol
