Hello.

I am looking for some advice/help on removing and replacing the front end of my Mini Pickup. I am currently restoring it, and now I am at the point where I need to remove the front A panels, wings, and front end. I was hoping to keep the inner wings as they are not too bad, although the passenger side one is bent at the front, but hopefully I can straighten it.

I want to try to keep the front panel, as its the original pickup front panel with the pressed grill. Its a little rusty and has been repaired in the past, so it probably full of filler. I was planning to remove it and have it dipped or sandblasted, then see what I have to play with.

At the same time I was hoping to dip the bonnet.

So I want to try to keep the inner wings and the front panel, but how do I remove the front panel without damaging the mounting bracket panels?  Or do you know if can buy these mounting panels?

I am going to replace the A panels and wings.

Any other suggestions or advice would be great.

Many thanks.

i think this requires a comment of if you do nut have a clue about what your doing then leave along until you do the inner wing will straighten, but really if you have no idea get someone who does to do it or help you in person

I would chop the majority of the wings and a-panels by the seams. you should then be able to get to all the spot welds to drill them out.

I just bought some dormer cobalt spot weld drill bits off eBay £4.99 each I think and so far seem ok, just avoid the cheap I branded ones, as above of you cut off wings inboard of seams then the front panel will easily come off with a spot weld drill, if your front panel is to bad then you could weld your grill area into a new replacement one.

Don't remove too much at once. You need datum points to position the replacement parts. I take photos as I go along as memory joggers, useful if the restoration is over a long period.

Thanks for your advice.

Does anyone know if you can buy the panels that hold the front end onto the inner wings?
