My first '65 Mk1 Morris Mini-Minor (Tweed Grey) shown here in 1974 before and.......just after I had 'upgraded' the badges, door mirrors, grille and rear lights to Mk3, fitted 'Tilling' winding windows, smoke tinted glass, rear wiper, roof aerial, some 6x10 Mambas with 165 Goodyear Rally Specials, centre exit exhaust and new reflective numberplates + wiper aerofoils !
Note also my 'period' flared jeans and British Leyland badged Rally Jacket.....still have hair but not quite so long.

A couple of years later this was my second Mini a '67 Mk 1 (not found many photos of this one yet), now upgraded to 998cc eng/box from a Mk3 write off and with many other bits transferred over from my previous '65 Mini which had rusty sills, rear subframe and failing Hydrolastic plus some accident damage to the front end. Sprayed black in my dad's single garage by my brothers and I with black 'shadowlite' glass, W&P nudge bars and a Webasto sunroof from a Triumph Herald. Scrapyards were full of Heralds with sunroofs so we used to remove them recover vinyl and refurbish as required and them fit them to many different cars for friends and family (if they were brave enough to have the the hole cut).

The public car park for Mini's at the Mini 20th Birthday at Donnington in 1979 which I attended with the Mini Cooper Club...............my long gone red 1972 Mk3 Mini is on the right of the Hornet (Wood & Pickett arches, nudge bars, 6x10 Cosmic Slot Mags, 165/70x10 Goodyear Rally Specials, smoke tinted 'Tilling' glass, Vandan Plas Headlamp rims)
Also see the colour photo below.
1980's - Brands Hatch race paddock with Chris Tyrrells Mini Se7en (Paddock Bend in background).

"Huey" my old 1977 1000. It used to belong to a guy who worked in an exhaust centre. The back box started blowing and he didn't have a Mini system in stock, so he went to the stores to see what he could find. He found a front pipe and centre silencer from an 80s flat-four Subaru and used that. Huey had twin upswept rear pipes about 10 inches apart. It probably did nothing for performance (the rest of the car was standard) but sounded lovely and meaty. Huey was upgraded over the 2 years I had him with early GT seats, and S discs along with change of wheels from standard steels to Rostyles (with trim-rings!) to reverse rims. Then tinworm happened... Note the badly-matched rattle-can painted front wings and the large strip of underseal along the bottom which was a poor attempt to disguise rust/holes. Poor Huey was sent to the scrappy in 1996 by the guy I sold him to.
"Bruce" my 1979 1275GT with 1330 engine & 286 cam. He was always "bad tempered". I still wish I'd never sold him - but he hasn't been on the road since.
And "Mel" my 1985 Mayfair with 1302 engine, MED head, S discs, twin 1 1/4" SUs, reverse rims, too much chrome, MPi seats and chromaflair paint on the roof. Still on the road and fairly local, but not owned by me. I sold her from Ipswich, she went to Scotland, then to Oxfordshire and was bought by someone in Clacton, where I used to live. Small world.
that red one is very nice.

Thanks cjhayes, had that car for years, had it stripped and repainted when i first got it,owned it for years, went everywhere in it,i wonder if its still going? Id buy it back if it was, thanks for the reply
I think the guy I sold it too (or some later owner) scrapped it as I saw it on the top of a pile (still complete) at a scrap yard. If I knew it was still there I'd probably make an offer myself.
