Hi, Does anyone know if a guide exists for fitting a metro unit in an early(72) Mini. Cheers Mart.

It is the same unit. But you might want to fit your clutch Assy and cover.

Take out the old and swap over what is needed.

Yes and no it droned on what state it is in when you get it. The main differences are the clutch and the engine mounts and the manifold.

Pot joints are the same. But yes the rod change would be in th wrong place IIRC.

Pot joints are the same. But yes the rod change would be in th wrong place IIRC.

 

 

I think he said his was a 72.

 

Pot Joints and Rod shift didn't come in to being until 74.

 

His would have a pudding stirrer or Remote and Universal Joints ;)

Pretty sure they did in the UK, though I wouldn't assume a 40 year old Mini is original either. It is something for the OP to check though.

 

One thing he'll certainly have to sort is the heater plumbing and a thermostat bypass. Are they both 998's?
