Hi TMF.

I'm mocking up my front end panels and cannot decide which side the tab is supposed to go on from the front panel to the inner wing.

The inner wing has a section of seam removed which appears to line up with the straight tab of the front panel suggesting the tabs goes on the inside (engine side) of the inner wing and the ears go to the outside.

Could someone please confirm. Thanks in advance.

Both the tab and ear will be on the outside of the inner wing.

Thanks, so what's the cut out for on the inner wing seam then?

Which seam are you referring to? Have you got a picture?

Yes. Below is a photo I took of the tab located within the cut out (engine side of the inner wing).

Photo below shows it. Not quite aligned vertically but this is what I'm querying. To me the cut out seems to be to take the tab of the front panel. The ear is still in the outer side of the inner wing.

And this photo shows the cut out in the inner wing.

From what I can tell this should be where the tab slots in.

Thanks Dave, but I still cant understand why the inner wing seam has the long gap the same length as the tab of the front panel in it.

I've checked my 79 Mini and both the ear and rectangular tabs are on the outside as yourself and Neil have confirmed (wheel side of the inner wing), but I still cant understand why the inner wing has this gap in the seam. It must be for something otherwise they'd have run the seam all the way to the bottom surley.

Nope just the way the panel is built. You can look into something like this too much especially if you are an engineer by trade.
