Hi,

i'm replacing my boot floor too and i'm about at the same stage as you are.

does anyone know how to get the rear subframe mount area at the correct height ? does it involve using the two holes on the rear wheel arch lip ? there must be a way to get it spot on. If one side is slightly higher then the car won't sit straight.

Pete.

Hiya Pete, can I just say I'm making this build up as I go along. I'll be using the old subframe, minus the arms for weight saving, to line it all up.

Have a look at Sonikk's project paddy, he's probably covered it on there with lots of photos

Good luck with it, Jim

Gutted. Seat belt bolt on the inner sill was a bit tight so thought I'd try to tap it out, and the feckin nut has snapped off on the inside of the sill. Looks like I'll have to sacrifice the outer sill.

Balls!!!

Had a few hours on the GT today despite a heavy dose of man flu, we all know that's the worst possible illness haha. Thought I'd have a crack at getting the boot floor in

So it's sort of in, I need to weld in the passenger side arch and strengthening brackets and then it's on to the rear valance and closeouts. Thanks to R kid for dragging me into the garage.

Now where's me lemsip...

Got the passenger arch in today, I think the next day in the garage will be dressing a lot of welds back, God knows how many plug welds I've done putting the boot floor in, my neighbours will hate me haha

I'm running out of panels now, looks like I'll be ordering the front end soon

Nice one. Just noticed Minispares are having a sale on Heritage panels. Saved £165, that's the bonnet paid for

Really starting to take shape now, a real moral boost seeing all that nice rust free steel going in, keep up the good work.

Magnum panels eh? Pile of crap haha. Had a right faff trying to get the valance and closeouts to fit snugly, had to drill the spot welds off the closing panels and do a cut and shut. Got there in the end, then realised I had to weld a piece on to complete the closing face.

My main issue is this, tried to old subframe in place to see if the bolt holes lined up, the trunnion sits about 12 or 13mm too high ( or low if it's the right way up ) and fouls on the wheel well. I don't remember there being spacers when we dropped the frame. Can't work out why? It's the same on both sides, the floor position is governed by the base of the rear panel and the bottom rear of the quarter panels?

Any advice would be much appreciated, Thanks

There are supposed to be some strengthening panels welded to the underside of the bootfloor which I think might be part of the rear valance closers.

This will help but won't take up a 13mm gap and you need some space between the sub-frame and the body as it will move being rubber mounted and the last thing you want are squeeks and bangs.

So is the frame hard up against the boot floor?

At a guess, I would say that the floor is too low in relation to the heel board but it's hard to tell without seeing it properly.

I really hope that isn't the problem...

There are strengthening panels incorporated in the closeouts, but as you say they won't make that gap up

It fouls on the wheel well, ie the back part of the frame between the rearmost trunnions, nowhere else. The frame was bolted to the heelboard.

I've taken the trunnions off the old frame so will fit them on the new one and try that, the old frame had been jacked on that part of the frame that's fouling and is slightly mis shapen, but not enough to cause this issue I think
