What is the clutch release bearing clearance (dimension "A") for a pre-Verto clutch?

Thanks.

No idea. I just put it on and press the clip thing over. So mine is Zero.

Oops just looked at that again.

Can't say that us a measurement I have ever considered and from the picture I can see no way it can be determined. Unless that is covered by the text where I would also expect to find A.

This shop manual page I've shown above is for a Verto clutch which indicates the dimension is 5 mm.  I need the dimension for a pre-Verto clutch.  Anyone?

Op is asking about Pre verto. But I have never seen the measurement requested given anywhere.

But that is for the return stop bolt (7/16 spanner size)?

There is no published clearance at 'A'. All it needs is clearance so it doesn't rub and not something I've ever bothered to check.

Effectively you need a negative clearance for the throw out stop on the pre verto, diaphragm Spring clutch. This is to prevent overthrow of the clutch.
This is achieved by adjusting as follows:-

Fully release the clutch (ie pedal right down) and screw the large central throw out stop nut right upto the flywheel cover boss. Fully engage the clutch (ie pedal right up) and screw the nut up further to decrease the gap to the cover boss by 0.007 inch to 0.010 inch or 0.178 to 0.254 mm. Then lock the 2 nuts together.

The clutch return stop (7/16 inch bolt and locknut) should be set to have a clearance of 0.020 inch.

Info from BMC workshop manual Mini Issue 1 4908
