I purchased this big old beast for the winter, and i love it.

It's a real lady magnet.

It needed a good clean inside, and that took around 3 days straight, however its come up really well.

New carpet is on the cards after winter, as well as a new steering wheel.

Before any more cosmetic changes i need to change the PCV system (positive crankcase ventilation system). I have the full service history from 1985,
but there is no record of this being renewed (which apparently isn't unusual as its common to be overlooked but important non the less).

After the PCV system is done I'll be ordering some new springs.

Excellent, love those.

I have to admit when I first got it I was neither here nor there, but after driving it for a few weeks I think it's great. If people are ever wondering about buying a mini I always warn people that they aren't for everyone, but i'd recommend a 240 to anybody.

Top work must be one of the tidiest ones about.

Thanks, i've not done much to it as of yet, mainly just small jobs. There are a lot of nice ones around but I'm really pleased with this one because it hasn't bee restored.

Cheers, wasn't too keen on them at first but now im pleased i stuck with them. The previous owner had a standard silver set that i could of had instead but im glad I kept these ones. A member of the volvo club had a problem getting their 240 into a classic car show, (mainly because the parking stewards didn't consider it a classic) but i think with the cream wheels it looks a lot more old school.

Well done.

There aren't many about. I always buy classic car weekly to check the prices and such, but not very often do they come up. Overall I'm pretty chuffed with it.

I was planning on only having it for a year or so to get me to and from work when the weather doesn't agree with the mini so i could save up for a Bentley, but I'm thinking of keeping this for the foreseeable future now.

As I have mentioned on another thread that is crying out for a T5 or R conversion but keeping it looking stock. It must be done as those are the rules. A proper sleeper.

I've certainly been looking into engine swaps, The T5-R engine would be great since they're good power and it 'keeps it volvo' but there isn't many around. I wouldn't really want to put a stock T5 in it, but luckily the room in the engine bay means i'm pretty spoiled for choice, as well as the fact that there are several guides and kits you can buy to make the job easier. Was reading the other day about a guy who put a BMW V10 in his 242. it seems like almost anything will fit.

I want to keep it looking stock but 'upgrade' parts. I'd like to modify it so it looks like it could have left the factory in the same way.

My Dad borrowed one for a while years back - the most comfortable old barge I've been in, with big, leather seats it was like being driven around in your lounge.

BMW V10 - on Speedhunters, right?  That is awesome.  Not my favourite though, that honour goes to:

I've seen that green one before, looks great, i'm not a huge fan of BBS mesh wheels, but it's still a great car. There's a video on youtube of it.

Pretty good price if it runs properly, doubt i'd ever go for a V8 though, I'd like to go for an inline 5 or 6

Am i right by saying that Guy martin owns this amazon now?

I wanted an amazon 122s and i found the 240 hunting for one. Im pleased I accidentally found the 240, but I wish it had SU carbs like the older volvos because they are familiar.
