Just read this. It's nice to see that you are doing all the work yourself and it looks like you're making good progress. It is also nice that you're teaching yourself everything as you work :) Good luck with the project.

Vinay thanks for the thumbs up it's really encouraging

to get some kind words from other TMF ers

rust and elbow grease for now - cleaning small parts, prepping for paint

repairing broken bits and sourcing small parts

and then, when you need to get away and find a quiet place to be by yourself

Well we had two lovely snow storms, outside temps -6 derees C (I'm sure some of you have a tougher time than that)

but the inside temperature, fell to zero, yes that's zeeeeeeero degrees, insiiiiiiiiiiide, oh the joys of the Japanese house ;)

it may make a man of me yet

no I haven't given up, warm moments make painting possible - I've got some really good 2k thane and a baby Iwata, never used one before, but imagine rattle cans that you can tweak, basically it's that good

my first effort I had the fan a little too wide, the juice a little low and the pressure too, so it's a touch 'sandy' but little by little learning to get what I want, running it all of a small portable compressor so very very happy - even if it will take years to actually paint the whole car

front subbie, rubbed down, seam sealer and a light coat of 2k thane, more to come when time makes it possible - and I have made use of the colder days reading through pages and pages of fantastic builds and information - again thanks to all the great contributors on here...

Think Graham Norton - ohhhh, yes, ahhhhhh, helllloooo, oh, oh, yes, ladies and gentlemen in tonight's show we have runs, dust, orange peel, patchy bits and our guest yours truly

I can hardly believe I got this far and not to pat myself on the back (cough cough cough) but I am so pleased so far (as the paint hasn't fallen off yet...... yet..... ) I just do luve me some spray gun, hardly any runs, fairly even, a little patchy, but overall I am happy, got the whole of the underside done and will try to clean in the shell to get most of that done as there is a national holiday - still some prep and rubbing down to do, but at least I made a giant leap forward

and the pics

I would flat the orange peel panels with 800 wet and apply another coat, just get braver and put it on more wet and flatter, well done for trying though

Daz,

thanks for the advice, I'll be flatting back anyways as the visible outside will get a glass / hot coat when I have caught up with the rest,

Dad's Army lol :) "I think it went down the wrong way..."

( I could have done RAF blue, or marine grey, Grandpa B was a pilot, Grandpa P was a sailor and I really like land based vehicules, so this is a Willy's Mini, maybe, kindof, in a rather light tint of Allied Green )

hope you like what you see, looks good if not a little patchy on the inside, but much of that won't be seen I guess, more madness to come when time permits as usual

and I can't remember when I've had so much fun as drawing pictures on the roof of my car, oh if only 4 years old again ;)

'and the beat goes on... just like my love is... everlasting, and the beat goes on, and the beat goes on, and the beat goes on...'

it took me forever to get the fender guards fixed up, but kept my hands warm in the cold nights

'I'm red, I'm blue, I'm green again, I'm the Space Cowboy', no wait I'm green again, green again, green, just green...

And yes there really was a flying Willy's (isnt't that Hugh Laurie in the passenger seat ;) ), you can even get an airfix kit

but I won't be using the airborne Willy markings - just some early one's

Looks like you're making good progress on the body work and paint. Paint looks very good in the pics. What shade of green are you using? Basing it on a military green colour?

Vinay

cheers for the thumbs up

I picked the same green as the sofa on Top Gear ;)  There's a guy online in my neck of the woods who sells small quantities of paint and he has these three military colours, olive, olive green and olive drab.  Personally I love the Olive Green with white.  I finally got the painting sussed, just as I almost finished, great fun though.
