Hi guys,
I've just picked up some front seats from a 1985 Mayfair, I was going to re-cover them but they're in pretty good condition just a bit of a nasty colour.
I think they're made from velour just not sure if it's cotton or polyester, has anyone tried doing this before?

They'll be polyester or nylon. Not done it but it won't be easy. Might not even be possible without trashing the foam* or vinyl  - it'd need boiling.

 

* stitched in to the cover, not the cushion. Sewing in a new panel isn't as hard as you'd think.

Shouldn't be that hard if you used a fabric spray designed for vinyl such as these

They're designed for car interiors and chemically bond into vinyl so I don't see why it wouldn't on the fabric section as well. I've had success using this type of dye on a cheap carpet and is definitely durable.

For the price of one can you might as well give it ago before forking out for new covers.
