If you are fitting the Metro Turbo type set-up then it is essential to cut the bulkhead. This allows clearance for the Turbo, which is mounted behind the engine.
You can't fit the engine if you don't cut the bulkhead.

If you don't want to cut the bulkhead, check out Mirage Motorsport with their manifold kit you can fit a T2 Turbo without any shell mods.

There will be no benefit in fitting a larger Turbo than the T3, this unit will provide enough effective boost for over 200+hp. More than adequate for any A-Series.

How much boost are you planning on running ?, the Renault 5 unit will produce efficient boost up to around 17 psi or so ....

Phill is about spot on.

If you don't want to cut your bulkhead use a T2 and a Mirage manifold. I spoke to garrett and they said that a T2 with uprated bearings woud be happy to make 25psi, I think that would be enough (I currently run 19).

Having said that I have a T3 on a metro manifold and I didn't put a box in, basically I used a big hammer and "altered" the shape of the bulkhead. However, this is a bodge and my engine is solid mounted so it dosen't move; so the fact that the turbo is only 5mm (max.) from the bulkhead isn't a problem. When I get around to re-sheling the car I will be putting a bulkhead box in.

Bit randomn, but relevant. What about the T3 off a Rover 820 Vitesse, slightly bigger than the R5 GTT spec T3, will this make more boost and fit in the box?
