Any news?

Completion has been delayed as the clutch decided to stick to the flywheel so i have had to strip it apart to remove the clutch/flywheel for inspection.

It was decided to fit a new clutch whilst it was apart but due to other jobs going on at the same time, it was slow going.

It's all back together now and ill be back in on Tuesday to finish up and get the MOT done.

Cheers

Ben

Right, time for an update.

Progress had come to a halt due to some extra unforeseen work required and unfortunately, I was too booked up to get it done.

The past few days have lent some time to get the work done so it could go back together.

Here is a progress shot of the finishing bits going back on

ArV7nvj.jpg

And then once it was back together, it went in for it's MOT yesterday afternoon

Unfortunately it failed on a few silly things.

The brake pedal rubber came off and i didn't notice - fail

The headlamp aim was slightly out - fail

and the washers didn't provide enough fluid - fail

The electrics went a little mad during the test and that turned out to be common earth point E1 which i had previously cleaned and checked and everything was working. It made the front spot lights flash with the hazards and the illumination for the aux gauges to flash in time with the indicator lights.

Minis eh?

All easy fixes and now it's passed.

We also set up the castor and tracking at the same time.

I spent the afternoon cleaning and polishing and here is the completed car

Once the cleaning was complete, i took it out for a test drive. All is well with no issues to report

I stopped and took some more photos whilst out and about

Shame the sun disappeared when i took those :(

So that's it then, all done and being collected tomorrow morning.

Thanks for looking

Ben

Seems like trivial things for a fail! When I put my clubman for its first test last year I turned up at the garage with it running like a bag of spanners and a leaking brake pipe. I told the mechanic about it and he said don't worry. He sorted everything and passed her! I suppose it helps that he understands old cars, he owns an original black Chevette HSR! I'll be going back there in a week or so for a renewal .

We do our MOT's in house and it was done last thing so our tester suggested failing it so it could be remedied in the morning. Especially as the earth issue happened after he had tested the electrics so it wasn't exactly in a passable state after all anyway.

Still, all sorted now :-)

Cheers

Hope you enjoy it Simon.

It's a shame that completion had to be delayed but we got there in the end.

All of your spare parts are together ready to collect also.

Thanks again

Ben
