It looks a quality bit of kit, and I wasn't expecting it to be cheap or anything, but wow. What a price! Nearly £14000 and that doesn't include the engine! In fact it doesn't include engine mounts, drive shafts, wiring, engine management among other things. As far as I can tell, it's pretty much just the gearbox and diff you get for £14000! Wow! I'm a bit disappointed because ever since first hearing about it, I've been building an imaginary mini in my head with this engine, but after seeing the price today it will reluctantly have to stay an imaginary mini.

I guessed £12,000 for the basic spec version looks like I was about £7000 out. Still not surprising really, I think this package is primarily for the motorsport boys with very deep pockets. I just can't see this package in a mini other than the demonstrator

It certainly is a nice bit of kit. Engineering on this level for minis is always a great thing. As above, at this stage it will stay a dream for me  O_O

*edit* I just bought a powerball lottery ticket.....go number 18 !!

I'm still excited about this kit. Since my post about about the lotto numbers above, I quit my shitty job a couple of weeks after that post. I hated IT, did it for 20 years (technical --> service management) and I was good at what I did but it wasn't for me.

Anyway...I'm saying this because I'm heading down a new path and this kit is more likely than I ever thought possible. Fingers crossed :-)

Is anyone else on here interested in this kit?

I am too. It all boils down to how much. They released prices, but they were quite frankly ridiculous! Then I spoke to the guy at Santa pod, and he said they were not taking orders. It's a lovely piece of kit, which if priced competitively, could tempt me into a purchase. I would want to drive a demonstrator first though.

Yeah the price is a bit high. However, it is a new billet bottom end and gearbox incorporating reverse.

I'm in Sydney and the odds are against me travelling to Europe this year though my mate is in the UK working at the moment and I was hoping to send him along for the test drive/ride and get him to report back.

I have been keeping an eye out for hayabusa gen 2 engines but am waiting to pull the trigger until pricing is released and a test drive conducted.

I seem to find myself asking what 1/4 mile times people are getting with the pro-motive kits or other front wheel drive kits as a way to ascertain how quick the acceleration is as I haven't had the chance to ride in a motorcycle engines mini yet.

It's a tough call but I do want/need a project and this is looking ok so far.

I'm sure I can remember the promotive R1 mini doing the 1/4 mile in around 13.5 seconds a few years ago at Santa pod. It was a very lightweight car with no rear bulkhead though.

At MITP 2015 I ran a 1/4mile PB of 13.2sec @104mph in my pro-motive mini. That was going over the line at top revs in 4th & 1st gear was a bit too long which made it difficult to get off the line cleanly. I've changed the gearing now to make it a bit shorter and should be going over the line at the end of 5th & 1st will be about 4mph shorter so I think it may be a shade quicker now.. Mini weighs just under 500kg without me sat in it.

There is a link to the vid in my bio

With 320 or more hp I wonder what it will be capable of and when traction actually runs out.
