As some of you may know not only do I love minis, but I have an unhealthy obsession with the Austin 1100, so at some point last year  I purchased a Grey Magenta project from Eden7842:

We have been deciding what to do with it, so a decision was taken over Christmas to paint it and stick it through for an MOT. Unfortunately on closer inspection I am missing some critical parts (Bonnet Hinges, Windscreen etc). I am now in the process of purchasing a second White Magenta.

So I am now the proud owner of two Magenta's...I thought I would pull together a build thread for a bit of fun.

I think you will find the windscreen is just a flat plate of laminated glass, any good glazing firm can cut you one to a template cheaply?

Nice project .. these were great kits back in the day with good quality fibreglass shells from a innovate company.

I needed the frame surround too plus a few other items, at £200 it was cheaper to buy a spares car.

I've got it fully in high build, had a few surface marks that I wanted to take out, just need flatting back and see what he looks like.

I've finally got the logbook too that confirms him as a Magenta which is a nice touch!

I'm surprised how quickly its coming together, managed to get the lights, roll bar, master cylinder and front brakes refitted last night. I built the loom a few weeks ago so plan is to trial fit to the car so I can finalise a few wires, then I can remove the loom fully wrap it and hopefully refit it tomorrow will all the clocks and switches etc. That just leaves a few finishing touches. I am hoping to get bulk of the refit done this week so it can go off to get its exhaust. which should just leave the windscreen and wipers to be fitted.

On another note, I'm really gutted I didn't pull and paint the engine, I normally would just wanted to keep the time down on this one, will see what I can do later on in the week.

Got loom in, so I can work out what wires need extending etc,

The fit is quite good but the wiper wires are too short.

wheels painted, front lights wired, waiting for a delivery of bolts so I can attached the front windscreen and start thinking about wipers. Progress is slow but satisfying.

Been following this from the start, it's looking good :-) Great job you're doing.
Are you keeping the MG 1100 grille or could you fit another 1100/1300 variant grille?

I too love 1100/1300s ;-) Always fancied a Vanden Plas Princess but, they fetch big money now, don't they?

I'm keeping the mg grill just with a small twist.

I do love the Vanden I built one last year, its crazy how the prices have gone up.

Last night I got the clutch working and the last bits for the zorst turned up. I was hoping to get my friend to help fit it but hes busy else where so rather than a custom zorst ive got a lot of bits to fit into a two box mini sportex system.

Ive had the head off to aid fitting the manifold as the 1100 has the rubber cross style couplings these are prone to hitting LCBs.ive also fitted a new fuel pump as these are nightmare to get to with the manifolds on due to the rear mounting on the 1100.

The head is going back in tonight, with the manifold being trial fitted so I can sort the first zorst bend. Hoping this week to get brakes and seats sorted so I can have a quick drive.

I'm off Friday so that will be my day to sort the wiring with a hope it could see an mot next week....who  knows.

Got the head back on and the zorst finally aligns. Gear change has been swapped as some person wanted a short shift so had hacked it about and the rubbers were splitting.
