Amazing what you can pick up on ebay these days. I went on to look at R53 cooper S for a track car and ended up buying a Zcar mini VTEC.

This is the first day it came home:

It needs a clean under the bonnet:

The car wasnt running very nicely when I got it, so a trip to performance autoworks confirmed 172 bhp at the flywheel:

I decided to have a few alterations to the car, some planned, some not!

Firstly the timing chain was worn (common on older K20's). So this had to be replaced with a genuine Honda item. A new clockwork motion baffled sump, Kaaz 1.5 plated LSD, an ACT clutch and attention to the CV joints:

Then off to brands for a dust off:

The 175 Yokohama A539 are ok for the road but not nice on the track and clearly not enough grip to cope with, so this needs to be sorted soon:

The car was awful, the steering was all over the place, the car was cutting out after most corners and it weighed more than I thought care of the dynamat fetish the previous owner had:

745kg!!!

A trip to Tracktive for a remap on the Hydra ECU:

Now running 179bhp at the wheels which is a step in the right direction:

alrite mate, just a heads up , if your going that wide , what tyres are you going to use, everything on the market is quite a lot taller and arches might need redoing

I have been going through this dilemma today. I have called arc-angels, carbonweeve and absmotorsport and no one offers an arch to accommodate the 215/55/13 Avon ZZS tyre that is planned for the rear.

1 option is to modify the current arch which is not really the way I want to go:

This would mean cutting the arch, widening with more fibreglass but would lose the pressed carbon weave look.

Any other suggestions welcome....

Zcars used to make some wider arches for the 9" wheels.

Call Chris and ask!

Im not on about the width of the wheel mate its the extra 30mm + in tyre height , cutting the steel quarters is more than likely .

I went from a 195 45 13 to a 195 50 13 and had no end of problems .

The tyres you've got on there are 504 in height ( i think )

the avon 215 is 559

just a heads up because i have had a lot of issues with it

Ok so the tyres turned up today and for reference they are the Avon ZZS 185/55/13 and 215/55/13 set up which looks staggered and a big radius...

Sit on of your wheels next to them, think you'll be surprised

Will do but the car is in a workshop and tyres at home. Just looking at the difference between the front and rear in terms of size its easy to see how there might be some teething issues
