HI everyone, Its been a while for me, so I have the car broken down back to a shell again. why its getting strengthened, I thought I would do a few upgrades.

Main one for now is ceramic coating. I was going for the full race, with 3 coats on the outside and one coat on the inside.

Anyone else gone done this road?

How have you found it ?

How much heat loss can be gained, I thought it was about 30% but lad who dose it, said about 15% but will see a power gain!  which is nice. but unexpected.

What are your thoughts?

I have mine coated in and out (Camcoat) and it seems to work just fine (no cracking of coating etc.), however if its heat loss in the bay that you're looking for then I would advise on wrapping it also, the lava based wrap is good to work with because it doesn't need wetting and you don't need to wear gloves because it aint fiberglass. Zircotec are more expensive than Camcoat but they seem to be the people to use if you want any other colour than black.

Thanks for your comments, I think I will go for Camco as its on my door step. Also happy with black, do not need a colour, even though they do them. Black seems the best colour for heat loss. I still have the heat tape, which I unwrapped. Do you think its worth rewrapping it again ? cptkirk.

I will be rebuilding the old firewall only Zcars did it in 1mm Aluminium. I will redo it in 3mm. This should make it stronger and hopefully less heat soak.

Is there any way to upload photos from your phone or laptop. with out some crappy ulr/ code?

If your old tape hasn't gone brittle then it could be re-wrapped, if you can afford it get new to be safe. It's a fair bit cheaper nowadays.

Its been a few years since I got mine coated so it would seem they have come a bit further with colour choices.

Unsure that making the firewall thicker will stop the heatsoak, it will only delay it and then the heat will hang around longer once you've turned it off. OEM's use insulation on the inside of the cabin, maybe look into this as it might be lighter and more effective....just an idea.....

As for uploading, unsure, I use a photobucket account and link all my pictures.
