Hi

The boot latch locks behind a piece of metal - fair enough, but is that metal straight or does it have a curved up end to allow the latch to pull the boot shut?

I'm not explaining it very well but is the metal straight or bent?

Thanks,

Rod

Bent, to kind of pull the boot in.

My car is nose first so I can't take a photo as the garage door is in the way

Thought so. Mine has been straightened - probably when it was being painted and that could well be why I can't get it shut with the new rubber on :-)

Thanks,

Rod

Could be rubber as well, I bought a new boot and quarter window seals from mini spares and couldn't use any of them on my mk1 had to revert to the old ones.

Should have a curve on so u turn the key it pulls the boot shut. If it's straight trying to shut it will be a pain and the amount of force you probably going to brake something. And new rubbers are generally a pain to close for a while anyway

Same here, bought a mk3 on boot seal from minispares and couldn't get the boot to shut.
Emailed them to ask for advise, but never received a reply.
Bought a cheaper one from minimine which is a bit tight but I can close the boot.

Check to see that the rubber is installed correctly.  Minispares say that if it installed backwards, the boot lid will be very difficult to close.
