Ive got an A+ 1275 metro engine/gearbox complete, but the bores and pistons are worn, ive been offered a non A+ block and pistons and rods( 1380cc) in excellent condition by another forum member for a very fair price, my question is can this be used in my A+ metro engine, I would have A and A+ rods but only an A+ crank, and obviously a complete A+ gearbox, and what parts would I need to obtain for this combination to work? Cheers Mart.

just the only thing you will need is the dizzy for the block.

A 1380 is worth A LOT less than a 1275, 1293, or 1310.

Cheers Nick and Cooperman, sound advice, so just need a non A+ dizzy, any recommendations it will have a minispares evo cam (001) and hif 44 with a maniflow cooper freeflow and single box RC 40. Would a performance dizzy be worth while? Mart.

I'm going to get my second hand but in good condition 45 dizzy altered to suit my kent 266 cam and compression ratio. Been quoted about £50 + vat to get it done, might be worth thinking about?

The very early 1275 blocks (and I'm going back to the 60's here) did use a slightly different crank that had a different width Centre Main Bearing (I seem to recall these early ones were wider), there's only 0.030" difference. There are different Thickness Thrusts available to allow a swap from one to the other.

Don't pay much for a 1380. If it is worn it would be expensive to fix as it would be either a scrap block or sleevin.

Have to say I am inclined to agree can't think of many good reasons to dismantle an engine of 1380cc other then it being goosed.
