Well, this car has a rather interesting history. Basically, my dad bought and rebuilt the car in the '90s, before selling it and moving on to another Mini. She was bought by someone locally, who then sold it to another local. This guy used it for many years, before selling it on as well. My dad was approached about a Mini being for sale one day and when he went to view it, there stood his former car. She had been used for illegal goings on and had been impounded. My brother bought the car and did some work.

This is how she looked when got her back :

The car was badly faded and had had a rear shunt at some point. Solid overall, but needing some TLC. My brother did a bit of work to the car, including fitting the 40 Weber, GTS steering wheel, LCB, new exhaust system and giving it a good clean out. He was going to fit 13s and fully rebuild it, but a certain turbo Clubby came up and this car went on the back burner. Long story short, my mom acquired the car and we'll now be fixing it up for everyday use.

A set of 7.5" discs will be going on, along with some genuine D1 wheels. It'll get some attention to the bodywork, including a respray in a different blue, wheel arches, some stickers and a fibreglass bonnet. The 40 Weber will probably come off in place of a 36DCD.

Some random shots as of recently :

The wheels :

The bonnet :

IMG_20151218_161623_zpsu4acuirr.jpg

The engine, with 11 stud head (no clue of GTS or not) and inefficient airbox for the Weber :

She'll be getting some updates as and when we can afford to do them, as well as when we have the time. This is the third project car on the property now, so it should be entertaining.

Nice to see that you have started a build thread for this little beast. It is going to be an awesome clubman when completed :) Plus since it is running you can use it.

Hopefully it will look as we envisioned it.  =] Not running at the moment - there's a really bad oil leak.

Damn :\ Hope you can get it running soon. Then share a video of it running. I'd be keen to see how it sounds/goes.

Thought I might try and do something today. Safe to say I failed. We have a bootlid from another car that's in good condition, so I thought I could swap them around today. How wrong was I! The hinge bolts on this blue one are fighting me to no end. I'll leave it with some penetrating fluid on for a while.

Anyway, I started with this :

And ended with this :

FAIL!!

I did take the spare bumper off the other car, which looks a lot better than the original (twisted and dented original on the right) :

What does the other bootlid look like? That one looks pretty straight in the pictures.

See all that cracks in the paint on this one? That's all body filler, which is thick. Both hinges are also knackered. The replacement one is a lot better than this one.

Well, with some assistance, I managed to get the boot lids swapped out between the two cars. The white one is a lot better, but does have a little bit of rust on the bottom, but I'm sure it'll be fine to use. What is a problem, however, is the body on the side that had the shunt. It wasn't fixed properly and so the fit of the replacement boot lid on that side isn't so great.

Can see the poor fit in these next two :

Also, I took some pictures of when my dad originally got the car to fix up in the '90s (not the best quality, but you can still see) :

Did it originally have an 1100 SA big block motor?

Nothing new really, just a 3 gauge cluster. Very poorly packaged, resulting in the one glass dial cover breaking. Also no PCB board. None of this should be a problem though.

I ended up changing the complete rear panel from the window down on my clubby amongst everything else at the back end after it had been rear ended.

I would say looking at your pictures you may have to do the same

I've been meaning to PM you discuss what the best option would be. Thanks!
