"The choice of 145/10 road tyres has steadily reduced over the years to the point where there are just a few budget brands available eg Camac, Falken and just the one premium brand, the Dunlop SP Sport/Aquajet.
The budget brands are ok and cheap enough, whilst the Aquajet is a great looking tyre but at over £100 each is expensive. It would be great to have something in between which looks right but is not quite as expensive ?
Blockleys have indicated they may be prepared to produce a 145/10 tyre to the old SP3 tread pattern with a period looking side wall. They have recently introduced this in larger sizes (see example pic for a Porsche) so that's how they'd look. Price wise they would fit somewhere between the budget priced tyres and the Aquajet.
For this to happen they need to know there is sufficient demand for the tyre, so what do you think? would you be interested ?"

Here is the feedback from Blockley's so far from the Mk1 Forum:-

1.The compound is suitable for road and competition use. They quoted that a car shod with a 165VR15 version of the tyres won the Pirelli Challenge a couple of years back up against cars shod with Avon CR6ZZ race tyres. So they handle and grip well in the wet or dry and look right too.
2.Wear rate is very good, the tyres from the winning car above were still in good condition after the event.
3.They ship worldwide
4.A 165 tyre would be possible.

No commitment yet on if/when they will do it and what the price would be.

The way forward ? we would need to demonstrate that there would be enough demand to justify a run.

e-mailing them direct would be a good idea.

Are you quite sure Falken consider themselves a Budget Brand ?

They are the cheapest on Black Circles. http://www.blackcirc...er/tyres/search

Whether or not that means the are a Budget Brand I'm unsure.

Update on the Blockley SP3 Mini tyre from Mk1 Forum:-

http://mk1-forum.net...=15108&start=40

Quote:

"the Mini Tyre is not available yet .. they think the small 10 inch structure is strong enough not to use steel banding as they use in all the other size Blockley Tyres... steel banding is a production issue in a 10inch tyre that is not yet resolved.
Blockley are still not sure of the customer demand for the mini 145 x 10 tyre as there is a £45k investment needed for tooling.. he said prices would be circa £50 per tyre with the Dunlop type of road pattern tread .. he also made a note to chase it up next week and i think it will only go ahead "IF" Blockley can see there is the demand for their mini tyre..
Suggest us buyers get in touch direct with Blockley to highlight the demand for a 10inch Tyre."

e-mailing them direct would be a good idea.

"The 145x10 size is in hand and at the mould making stage, so something will happen in 2017!"

June 2018 update on the Blockley SP3 Mini tyre from Mk1 Forum:-

http://mk1-forum.net...php?f=3&t=22545

Blockley have sent this latest reply to an email enquiry below:-

"We have had all sorts of delays, and I'm sure you will have made other plans - but the Blockley 145R10 mould is nearly finished and the tooling for the steel belting also manufactured ready, so I should have the sample tyres by mid to late July, after which it's E marking etc and the production - so we're on the last stretch!"
