Hi

I'm currently stripping the interior of my MPi in order to add proper soundproofing and at the same time install a new head unit and new front and rear speakers.

This is the unit I'm thinking of going with as it has a fairly decent size internal amp.

What I'm looking to do is replace the rear speakers in the parcel shelf with something equally discreet as the standard Rover ones (so flat, black and non-blingy) but at the front I'm fitting metro door pockets, and this is where the real fun begins.  The metro doors would have had a hole for magnet recess, but as I'm not cutting big holes in my doors, I've got a maximum available mounting depth of 40mm!! I've had these fitted before with very shallow speakers (only I can't remember the name) but the sound was never fantastic.  Not really expecting fantastic as they're in the wrong location really, but it is what it is.  Just hoping audio tech has moved on a bit since 5 years ago when I last had them fitted.

So, can anyone offer and suggestions please?  Quality is important and reusing the rear shelf and door pockets without any body modifications is paramount.

Many thanks :)

Hello,

What are you planning on fitting at the back. I'm looking for something similar.

Thanks

You'll be hard pressed to beat Focal for quality, check these out for your front application

I'm unsure of the factory speaker sizes in your car, most minis we have here in NZ predate speakers hahaha.

Cheers Chris.  Just been looking at their site and they do make a 4" speaker with a shallow mounting depth that would fit :) Unfortunately it looks like a pair will cost about £225! :(  Way over my budget.

Yes definitely not cheap, but like I say, can't beat their quality.
I think Alpine make slimline speakers.

Try 'bolt on bits' in Bradford.

They were indeed from "Bolt on bits"...... price seems to have increased since I bought them. They are however very good.

Re. the parcel shelf speakers, this is a very tidy way of doing it: http://www.theminifo...bman/?p=3450264
