As I mentioned in my newby intro post, 11 years ago now I worked security at Mini in the Park at Charlbury park.  I thought I should share the pics I took in between shifts, you never know, you might spot yourself or your own Mini.

Haven't seen a number of these on the show scene for a few years.

Also it's funny how those body kits have gone massively out of fashion!

Thanks Bovril, some nice photos. My Inca Yellow GT that I owned at the time is on the 12th picture on the Bristol Mini and Cooper Club stand.

Charlbury Park was a great venue, I miss it?

I was there in my mk1. I remember camping there on the Saturday night. Took the girl friend (now wife) to it and got completely soaked when it rained in the night because we had a cheap tent.

Shame in some ways as minis are becoming less individual now.

Makes me realise how long ago 2005 was! I would only have been 12! I also never realised that the styles I was seeing in magazines like Fast Car and Max Power, Like crazy paint jobs and garish body kits, were being transferred over into the Mini scene too.

I look back on those styles fondly to be honest. It's what I was brought up on, and was what introduced me to cars in general. Obviously most of it looks absolutely horrendous by today's standards, but there's no doubt that people were a lot more creative back then, and the time and effort put in was staggering. That individuality is something that the current Mini scene could do with a good helping of, as I feel things are getting a bit stale. If I had a pound for every Mini I've seen with a Union Jack and Minilites then I could probably afford to buy my own small country.
