Haven't posted much on here as haven't had much time to make progress but I've been making my own front subframe for my z cars kit as didn't want the standard one and z cars are a bit expensive for me. It's been nearly a year in the making with 4 different designs and I'm now coming to complete the design I like the most. I made myself a jig out of the old original subframe but found the old frame was twisted at the front section. Got the new subframe parts in the jig and got it tacked together. Suspension tabs are on and even starting to get the parts fitted. Needs some more parts and then to finish welding it! This frame is designed to use all the standard mini suspension parts so geometry is kept as standard and parts are easy and cheap to get hold of. http://s1349.photobu...gh2z7.jpeg.html

But useless at photo bucket but I've put a few more photos on there from when I got the cage to where it was at before I decided I didn't like the standard front subframe. I do need some help with the front subframe measurements with where the front tie rods connect to. I think my old frame was twisted as doesn't sit square on my jig. Can anyone help me with the width apart from each other and the distance from the bottom arm mount to the front mount as can't find the correct ones online. Thanks in advance

I can't remember where I got them from but I think they were some rally spec adjustable ones. I have got a 1.8t engine out of a tt with a 6 speed derv gearbox to get a better ratio. I've had some free time at work today so done a little more. Will post some more pictures later

Got the rear studs pressed into place. Using the ford 4x108 pcd to get a better selection of wheels and offsets. Does anyone know what rear brake discs are used from z cars?
Also got a hole predrilled whilst the arm was off for a speed sensor which I will be using. Got this to pick up off the abs ring on the cv joint.

Used the extra day of the bank holiday to get some more bits done and managed to get the bits all welded up. Still more finishing to do of tubes to go in to hold the steering rack but it's getting a lot closer to finishing now.
Also had a present turn up from gonzo with my brakes.
