are anyof you suffering from any problems becauseI have just blown my third ECU !!
Z Cars check everything out last week and couldn't find anything.and re-did the wiring loom..if it wasn't for my cutoff switch I wouldn't have a car as the wiring loom sarted to spark and smolder and the ECU got redhot and the cockpit filled with smoke !!
Are any of you using a different management system or have you made a complete new loom ?
Responses would be greatly appreciated as my sense of humour has had a major dent as well as my bank balance and I would like to complete a journey without being trailered home (I could have bought a TVR and a tow truck ).
Cheers guys
PS the car is the dogs danglies when it does run !

2002 injection
I've had 3 different problems now:........
Day 2 of running..........misfire under load...a friend traced with a meter back to ECU where the resistance was high...got a new ECU and did 100 miles with no probs.
3 weeks ago on my way to first track day just finishing overtaking a line of traffic and no power....managed to get back in and turn off road without causing any embarrassment...blown fuse at the solenoid and blown ECU.
Managed to get another ECU ...picked up car from Z Cars on Friday...they have checked everything and "re-did" the wiring loom..trailered it home...3 miles yesterday and melt down !!
I will look at the loom once I have spoken to Chris on Tuesday.
The loom was modified by Chris in the first instance.
I have a Digidash so can see the charge going through which seems normal
cheers John

i have seen this happen before on a bike an early r1 it had bin down the road on its left hand side and damaged the flywheel cover, the cover was replaced and other repairs few weeks later it blew a fuse then another one.
one of the ones on the starter relay.
eventualy he put a larger fuse in and hey presto the ecu started smoking turnd out to be a short behind the caseing on the fly wheel.
on later r1s the voltage reg is on its own circuit where as the early ones had 2 voltage regs inside the ecu on inspection of his old ecu (cut open) the tracks and both regs were burnt to a crisp
if you can tell me what wire or pin out the ecu your mate looked at it will help i have all wireing diags us eu uk
for the r1 on my pc

many thanks for the info....you are giving me some excellent help.
the feed for the digidash is now from one of the injectors...originally taken from a coil but the revcounter didn't work...
..after the starter solenoid blew on the 2nd time a larger fuse was put in...hence the meltdown of the ECU....
Atleast we can start looking in a different direction now
I don't have any spare time for the moment but will try to get some help in looking into this...will let you know the outcome .
many thanks John
