Hi Folks,

I have created 3d prints for the classic mini & 1275GT, see pics and ebay links below:

All items are made of PLA plastic and can be printed in a variety of colours (black / red / blue / green / silver (coming soon).

If anyone has a favourite pic of their own car I can convert that instead, this is covered in the personalised option, which can capture reg plate etc

If there any other models or colours also let me know.. :)

Hi Folks,

Trying my hand now at assembled prints in multi colours.  If there is any interest in a mini version let me know.

The link below is a white/silver & black Audi RS3 to give you an idea...

Surprised you haven't had much response to these, its a cool idea! I know there are people selling something very similar in metal with success on facebook mini pages so it might be worth advertising them on there as well. Being printed you also have the ability to modify the design to be more 3D and sculptured which could well give you an advantage over 2d metal versions, but that would be tricky to model, what software do you use to design your models?

I like this product a lot, some joker @ crystal palace on the L2B run was selling something similar for 20 odd notes, at least dick Turpin wore a mask. Will deffo be placing an order for one of these.

Hi Alex - Well i'm not on FB (I leave that for the misses) but that is a good idea..  whats the group called just "mini"?

You know I think the sculpting option is my next step.  I wanted to try the assembled version, i.e the audi link previous, that is a marked step up from the single colour print.  But your right a 3d sculptured mini front end would look awesome.  I use tinkercad/vector magic, but would need maybe solidworks for full modelling. I may give it a go and post up results..

Thankyou, I think i may create a fresh 1275gt as the current design i did i dont think captures its character as well as i hoped.

£20 - that was a 3d printed version?  Yeah that sounds steep.  Although I do have the assembled audi at 12.50 purely due to the time to design (with altered reg plate) print & build/bond.

Solidworks would be a good option for that but worth trying Autodesk Fusion 360, its free to small businesses and students which would likely suit more than the £4000 license fee of Solidworks.  But yeah post up the results if you do and I am sure you will get some good responses on how to improve or what potential customers are looking for, all the CAD things I have posted seem to have got a good response but I haven't produced anything to sell, just for my own interests.

The ones being sold at the L2B run were the metal ones I was talking about and no there are a few pages on facebook related to minis, Madd old minis and Mini classic 1959-2001 are the two I am on and the biggest I believe.

i have only briefly used fusion but you can set it up like solidworks which suits me as thats what i have the most experience on, but its more intuitive than catia and seems to be pretty friendly.

Alex - you know that's the first thing I noticed about "tinkercad", which although it's very basic it seems far more intuitive than the long in the tooth solid works (which is what I grew up on). So if fusion follows this trend then all the better.

So general question about these hangers, would people prefer a design which is designed with magnets and acts as a fridge magnet for example? People love their cars but would you rather it stuck to the fridge as a badge or on a wall with the hangers?
