Walking the pooch around my local village I came across a pile of items on a local chaps drive....I spotted something really nice and asked if he would like to sell it and couldn't believe it when he said take it as I'm about to take it to the tip!
So the restoration begins... Well mainly replace rusted bolts give the paintwork a good clean and polish and polish all the metalwork up with a polishing mop and compound, a pretty cool project keeping me busy in the shed. image.jpeg 76.87K 58 downloads image.jpeg 44.33K 17 downloads image.jpeg 55.98K 18 downloads image.jpeg 46.16K 20 downloads image.jpeg 60.01K 23 downloads image.jpeg 57.8K 10 downloads

That's so cool. I wonder how old it is.

Assuming it is an old piece and not a reproduction (which looking at the photos it does look genuinely old and original) I reckon an antiques dealer would sell that for around £400 so I would say you have a bargain there.
As you say a good clean is all it needs. The patina adds value to it

A bit more work today on the fire engine, after being stripped of all chrome items from the body I have given it a good wash using a car shampoo and then given the body a t cut with some damp microfibre clothes.
The body has come up great but also showing a great amount of patina which has come through the paint which I like as it then keeps its originality
Chrome polishing is up next which will take a lot of time and effort oh and all the stainless steel bolts / washers have arrived ☺️

Im sorry to break it to you but ive just googled 'city fire pedal car' and it comes up with all sorts of versions.. but the one you have seems to be a fairly recent modern remake. The originals look to be made from pressed steel with arches as part of the body work. Also no extra accessories and stuff ... sorryyyyyy....

I knew it was a a reproduction as checked myself after I was given it for FREE I'm glad I can bring it back to life and get some use from it.

Finished the fire engine - I cleaned it all and replaced most of the body bolts with stainless steel fixings and then cleaned/polished all the chrome up. The body has a clean but patina look so I am really pleased with the results.
