I think they already sell these trailers in Australia with what looks like the same suspension design. Just make sure you aren't breaching any patents..

That's a brilliant trailer! Was it expensive to build? Do you need to pass any inspections befor you are aloud to tow it on roads?

Nice work!

Sadly I have to disappoint those of you in the UK. You can't now economically build your own trailers, except possibly very light ones that don't need brakes. The reason is the dreaded IVA test, plus the fact that you can't get the brake test done as VOSA don't have the equipment to do it. You need to find a competent, approved organisation to do the braking assessment at vast cost before you take it along for IVA. The only good news is that the IVA is not as expensive as for a car.

Now if someone could find an approved facility to do the brake testing at reasonable cost, that would be very useful. I would like to be able to build a trailer.

You will realise that the Law is an ass and as trailers are not registered, if it has its proper permitted load plate and other markings, lights etc, and seems to be more than a few years old, then it will seem to be legal, but I don't advise trying it. Many of the components may have manufacturing dates, a sure give-away.

The best I can suggest is, if you have an old trailer, keep it in good order and maybe add some improvements but don't try to build a new one in the UK.

One of the crucial factors in any trailer is the unladen weight. This looks sooooo heavy. What is the unladen weight please?
