Hi Folks.

I have rebuilt my Mk1 cooper engine and it is running. I will be taking it to a RR for a dyno tune, but would like some advice on  a pair of needles to get me started and (which CSI) dizzy advance curves would work best please.

The spec is;

Original A series block and crank

998 +20 Flat top to deck

Kent 266

Duplex vernier chain

Small bore roller rockers 1.25

Twin HS2 with knife edge spindles etc

K+N Pancake air filters

1.25 low profile stub stax

12G295 ported and enlarged inlet valves

CR 10.25

Lightened road flywheel

Maniflow small bore LCB

Single Back box 1.5" exhaust

PCV retained

I will be fitting a new programmable CSI 25D dizzy + vacuum . Advance curves are here    http://www.csi-ignit...es_850-1275.pdf

Cheers Guy

Guy,

Do you have a copy of Vizard's bible.....

Failing that if the engine is running a good RR company will either replace of modify the needles on site.

and also adjust the dizzy advacne

Yep, I'm wondering how much advance will be required at different RPM.

I will scrounge around in the attic for Vizard's * yellow bible* to help needle selection.

Ps it'll be drinking super unleaded

Thanks for your help chaps!!

M needles are a good starting point for this spec, use with the blue springs

I would have thought red springs would be better.

M needles and red springs would likely be too rich for this spec.

Blue springs run weaker than red.

My carbs are newish - swinging needle type. I can only find  M as a fixed needle. Will this fit/work?

Anyone any opinions on the preferred dizzy curve ?

Thx! Guy

Just came across this randomly.

How did the RR go?

Very tempted to build identical spec.

Minigman and 205GTi

I'm getting my arse in gear and sorting out a RR session for the mini this spring, (got distracted by a 911 last year!)
