I got hold of one of these TT kits :-) Does anyone have any fitting instructions for one of these? It looks quite simple looking at the kit. They allow the use or standard carb and no bulk head modifications. Anyone know what type turbo it uses and if its OK on a 998?

Thanks

pete, where the carb is on the inlet of the turbo rather than between thee turbo and engine. the turbo sucks throught he carb hence the name.

that tubo looks like a T2 to me, is there no part numbers on the turbo? or do you just have the manifolds?

Really not a fan of that design. Too much impeller stall and spool time due to the position of the throttle body. Cold side will be pulling against vacuum when the throttle is closed.

Surely turbo lag would be reduced since there's no pipework / ic between the turbo and inlet?

I know switching from a smic to a st205 charge cooler setup reduced lag on my mr2 turbo

Nowt to do with length of charge pipe work, it's the general physics behind a turbo and what happens at closed throttle. On a blow through the BoV will open and the turbo will continue spinning at an operable rpm as its able to breath air in and out without due resistance. On this set up when you close the throttle the engine will breath in against the throttlebody with the turbo in the way to create a vacuum which will stall the air over the impeller.

I also have one of these kits so would be interested to hear if anyone has fitting info.
I have read that these can be fitted to a standard engine if the boost isn't too high, not sure how true this is though..?
I was also told that one of these kits would be good for about 100bhp?
Sorry I can help any more. There isn't a lot of info on the net from what I could find.
Good luck.

Looks in good conditionmught be worth fitting if your engine is in good nick. The down pipe could easily be made up

I'd give TT a call;  they were pretty helpful when I was trying to find out about a turbo I had on the shelf with one of their part numbers on it previously

Personally, I'd do everything I could to convert it to a blow-through setup. There are so few changes required to make an SU work under boost (and what changes are required are very simple), the penalty/challenges of drawing fuel through a compressor just doesn't make sense.

Edit: I am making an assumption that you'll be using a HIF. That withstanding, I'd change to a HIF if that was all that was stopping me running blow-through.
