A lot of people are against the use of silicone and washing up liquid near paint.
Silicone because its a ******* to respray anything thats been contaminated.
Washing up liquid because it contains a lot of salt.
Slightly better options are car wax champoo and "bedroom " lube.

Rubber in.
Screen in the channel at the bottom.
Lever the rubber over the sides and top of the screen
I have used normal multi lubricant spray. spray this into the channel where the filler strip goes.
Start at the top, insert the tool (you really need the tool)
Feed the strip through the tool and then run the too around the screen.
I have done it this way 4 times now, I reckon i can get a screen in under 10 minutes.

If you can leave the rubbers in the sun for 10mins before you start as if makes the rubber easier to work with also a small plastic spatula type tool will help loads.

I actually find it's just about one of the dead easiest jobs to do.
In fact, it's so easy, I usually do it with one finger.
I call my glass man and he does it.
See, easy

I was going to ask which was the 'bedroom' lube of choice.
Which is the best tool to fit the chrome filler strip.
There are some quite cheap ones about.

KY jelly is the lube to use!
You know your bedroom lube well 😂 And yes it's the one I use(on the mini) not myself 😁
Regarding the tool to use.. Going from what available on the mini spares website(can't link on my phone) I bought the cheaper one(without the roller) and it did the job, I have found however that you need to be careful with it as you can catch the filler strip and mark it quite easily! Also after doing numerous Windows with it(maybe 4 minis) back and front it's twisting and is now making it difficult to use! If anyone has a review on the more expensive one with the roller on id be very interested to hear it, as I think I'll need to purchase one soon!

Like everybody else says. Rubber in 1st, glass in the bottom and work around with a spoon or anything else within hands reach.
Stay away from rubbers that are not joined, beware rubbers for toughened and laminated glass are different and after fitting the chrome trim leave the excess overnight if possible as it will shrink back. when you trim to size add a couple of mm to give it some extra leeway.
I use a standard trim tool without the roller and use the back of my index finger to keep a small amount of pressure on the trim,
I smear a small amount of tyre soap in the groove and job done in about 3 mins.
I`ve done quite a few fire engines, boats, Landrovers etc and having black infills mean they don`t come back every 18 months because the chrome trim has turned yellow!!
Why is everything so junk these days

drivers side bottom first
slide it along and work round with a plastic tool thin and blunt
