Is there a simple way of identifying if a hinge is for the left of right side or if its for the top or bottom?

They are numbered on the back

1/2 top right
3/4 top left
5/6 bottom right
7/8 bottom left

I did notice the numbers in the castings but ideas where i can find what the numbers relate to!
