So, as I seem to have got the bug back I thought i'd start a bit of a log to the goings on with the car.
So, I bought the car, Jessie, in about 06/07 and was solid-ish but needed some work.
So took it to the bodyshop to get it sorted and re-painted.
Was told by the bodyshop would take 2-3 weeks to get it sorted. Ended up taking just over 7 months due to him taking more work on and not being honest with me but eventually I got her back, fitted a Mk1 grill & buckets and ended up with this. Also made the mistake just after this of re-naming her Dannii (Had the hots for Kylie at the time and thought as I couldn't have Kylie I'd have Dannii).
Then a few weeks after getting her back on the road took her to Newquay for the Riv and this happened.
Typical Riv weather, Mondeo driver got into his car and reversed out whilst it was steamed up, didnt see me parked behind him. But resulted in me getting a Mk1 book, Mk2 rear lights so all's well that ends well.
Then a few weeks before Bingley Hall 2008 she decided that she didn't want to run properly and couldn't figure out why. After many nights with my head under the bonnet I finally thought i'd cracked it the night before Bingley. Managed to get about 10 miles and started to piss about again. So it went on to my mum and dads drive and there it sat for 3 years.
During that time I'd moved from Leicester to Wrexham. And after being moaned at by my parents for what seemed like an eternitiy I moved the mini up to Wrexham with the intention of selling it on.
And it sat in my overgrown front garden for 3 years then dumped in the back garden for another 2.
In that time me and the missus got engaged and I had the idea to get the Mini back on the road for my wedding. Basically we met on the Riv the same year I got reversed into.
So last week I cleaned off all the moss that had grown over it and it looked ok considering it had been sat for so long.
The oil and filter change, replaced the spark plugs, leads, coil and dizzy, replaced the dead battery with the old one off my old Polo. Fresh fuel and fired her up...
Only problem is, the oil pressure warning light stays on. I've replaced the switch to no avail. I now have a replacement valve to fit just waiting for 15 minutes to give it a go.
Whilst waiting for the parts to arrive I also removed the top dash rail and test fitted the new £5 Rokee dash.
Will be trying to replace the centre section of the dash with a customer bit to try and fit the original dash behind. And then re-covered.
And thats pretty much it. Now reverted back to her original name of Jessie and fingers crossed will be ready for the wedding in a month and a halfs time.
