Mine was my mates moms Brand new citroen Saxo automatic. We were about 10 and she let us sit in it and pretend to drive. One day, while I was in the drivers seat my mate dared me to turn the key so naturally I did. Not knowing the difference between an automatic I pushed the gearstick forward and we were off down the street. we crapped ourselves but miraculously didn't hit anything. My mates Mom went mad and we both cried :D

At about the age of 10, the first car that I drove on private land was my Dad's 1979 Austin Maxi 1500. The first car that I drove on the road was my driving instructor's Pug 205 diesel.

R53 Cooper S Works, did an under 16's track day 3/4 times when I was 15, about 10 hours of driving before I actually managed to get a drive of a Mini.

My first drive was a Morris Minor MM, did 26 miles in the garden, before venturing out on the road. Wrote it off 6 weeks after passing my test, cross ply tyres didn't grip as well as I thought & spun it backwards into a ditch !

Used the engine in another one before wrecking the suspension driving down green (or whites as we called them) lanes, then my first Mini which was great, put that on its side after hitting a ford at 70 ish,  lost grip in the water, learnt a lot the hard way !

My first car, in 1961, was a 1950 Ford V8 Pilot which had a 3.6 litre flat-head V8 engine with cross ply tyres and rod-operated rear brakes, despite it being a 90 mph car. You just had to look a long way down the road when driving it 😃.

Very first was my mums boyfriends vauxhall astra when I was 13. First car I had when I passed my test was a red metro turbo. Sold that and bought a mini Mayfair after two months.
