Hello everyone,

 

I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Jesus and I'm in the process of buying my first mini, in this case a Zcars Hayabusa Mini. Already paid for it and it should be arriving hopefully in within a week from now.

 

The car will be a dedicated track car and hopefully I will be able to contribute with some videos of it at the track, it will be mainly racing a Miller Motorsports Park in Utah, USA (now known as Utah Motorsports Campus).

 

As you can imagine, been my first mini and first zcar, I have millions of questions that I may need some help and guidance from you, I will do my research before asking questions, but I'm sure there might be some specific ones that I may not find an answer right away in the forum.

 

I also understand that the car I'm buying is the first Mini Hayabusa build by Zcars and unless someone was very good at copying every single sticker/decal, it is the one that was shot in an Autocar video versus a JCW Cooper.

 

I'm excited to get the car and start driving it at the track, as well as trying to be an active member of the community.

Probably my first question is, what do people use for reverse? I know the car I'm buying doesn't have it and yes, I can probably always push it and I don't think it will be an issue at the track, but would like to have one for the convenience of it :)

I don't have reverse, the guy who built my car had a lot of issues with it so he removed it and cut the mount, so at this point the only option for me would be going to a QBA drive box, but they are spendy.  I think most everyone is using a starter motor with a flywheel attached to the driveline to run reverse.  Its possible that you may have the mount for it and would just simply be mounting it and wiring it in.  You can see in the pic where the starter motor is and how it is mounted.

Interesting... I will take some pictures and check for any mounting options in the car for it... I noticed your car is LHD! That's a project I also may try to tackle through the winter and make the swap

The mini finally arrived and unluckily didn't made it on time to get it ready for this weekend's track event

 

A few small issues that I will need to figure out during the next couple of weeks to make it to the next event and that I need some help figuring it out:

 

a) Does anyone know the size or model of the brake pads for the willwood calipers? Would like to buy new ones

b) Does anyone know the thread and pitch of the wheel studs? need to replace 2 of the studs in the front left wheel hub (previous owner cross thread them and they are useless now)

I got the car in an square set up now, with 225/45/13 tires all around, I have some rubbing against the front arches but nothing that should be to hard to fix

The calipers are most probably Wilwood Powerlites.

Hi the wheel studs should be the same as std mini ones that whats on my 2015 busa as you use mini drive flanges on the front you can get them at mini spares off the shelf are you in the midlands?

3/8" is what I am running, even with all that power. I think I'll jump to 1/2" if I go twin charged....

Yes you'd need to bore the holes out then press the new studs in, unsure as the correct hole size for 1/2" studs without looking further into it......
