Anybody interested in a custom micra final drive.

I'm getting a price from Matt Humphries for one of his custom crown wheel and pinion in a 3.4 Ratio.

This would make 1st gear not as short and make motorway driving more relaxed and confortable.

3.4 would give a speed in 5th of

3000rpm- 66mph v 57mph (3.895 1.3 FD)
4000rom 88mph v 77mph

Based on 165-70-10 tyres.

This is pretty much the same as the micra would be gear on 14" wheels.

The normal ones from Matt are £600 plus VAT

I'd love too but I can't justify the cash!

So in the words of Duncan Banatyne "for that reason, I'm out!"

I guess cost would be the biggest factor for most people 600 is nearly double the cost of my whole conversion but I might be interested for the Midas ( again depending on price)

I think everybody with a micra conversion would consider this but for me id probably pay no more than £300 on a good day. As id prefer to put the money into either a diff or having the engine remapped

Likewise £300 max for me too, which I imagine isn't likely given the £714 the lower ratio ones cost.

Cost came back at £977 inc VAT. Really not worth it. Maybe a should fined a 3.65FD from the n15 deisel box.

I thought this was the one to go for.  Had someone not worked out that it only dropped RPM by about 300 at 70mph?

I spoke to Matt Humphries would claims the 2.0 deisel as a 3.65 FD compare to a 3.74 FD in the 1.7 desiel.

Fuzzy haired man has done a lot of research on gearbox compatibility with the Micra.
Unfortunately both the gearboxes in the photos have the starter coming out towards the engine so won't fit mine.

Handy to know that there is a 3.65 FD option. Might be possible to swap the dif into my box at a later date (when I'm fed up with a noisy cruising speed!)?

I run ITB's and cruising noise is ok, in standard single throttle body set up I doubt you will get fed up of it

You are on 10" wheels if I remember correctly?

I don't have the time (or more like I cant be bothered) to mess about with the gearbox and final drive.  Just need to turn the radio up if it's a problem!

I bought a set of ITBs off a GSXR750 but that is for a later mod.

I plan on fitting the 3.65 FD into a facelift 98-00 gearbox with closer ratios.

I currently find a can set off in 2nd gear easily. I'm running 10's using a 1.4 cga3de on the cg13 box and 3.895 FD.

My biggest problem is 1st is too short, combined with 3.7k revs at 70mph.

The ratios seem far better suited in the 998 box, it's a shame it comes with 4.47FD as standard.

I know it will effect the performance, but use the car a lot on motorways etc.

Plan is to fit the hybrid box, along with N15 1.4 Almera clutch clutch kit when the turbo goes on.

Nope I'm on 12's but there's not much in the overall rolling diameter between the 2
