Excessive Carbon Monoxide Content

How can I reduce the amount of carbon monoxide coming from my exhaust as has failed it's mot. I don't have a detector or reader machine just wondered if there was another way to do it myself

Carb or injection mini?

Be sure they were testing to the right standards for your car, do you have the figures?
The ignition and fueling need to be correctly set, but simple things like checking/replacing the air filter can help.
If the crank case breather hose accidentally fell off or became blocked you'd probably get a lower reading.
