Now we need to remove the race from the transfer case.
Recently there has been a video showing some Russians useing bread to remove a race. Nothing new but I have always used grease and maybe some paper.

First remove the C ring

Find a socket that just fits inside and fit it inverted to an extension. Then place some paper inside and then fill with grease. Insert inverted socket into the race and hit sharply. Note the grease streak which came out of an oil way. The paper helps reduce.

And Bobs your uncle.

If you are going to use a blind bearing puller you can see the cut out to allow the legs under the race in the first image.

Don't forget to clean out the oil ways.

Then it was a check what was missing. Those are ordered and should be here soon.

Next job will be marking up the damper with a timing notch. Just waiting for the cover to be cleaned up.

Today was adding a timing mark to the crank damper pulley.

Damper will need to come off again so I can torque the bolt down when the flywheel is back on.

Put some more bits on.

Today was mainly trying to take out the blower motor. I have seen some bodges before but ......

Engine wise pulled out the metalastic bush for the gear change. New one should be here next week. The ones I thought were for are too big.
Here is a how to get the bush out.

Then it was onto cleaning out the insides of the manifold. Stripping and cleaning the carb as the jet was stuck.

Helicoil kit on the way.

Why do people force steel studs into alloy parts?

Also interesting to see the different bore sizes on the MG inlet. Soon have that sorted.

Missing bits have arrive. And bling ordered. Should be in on Sunday.

should also  mention that we changed the knuckle joints.

did you know that to undo the top shock mount you need to take out the dash!  not the best design.

Can't be as bad as replacing the captive bolts for one half of the top shock mounts on my Mk1. You had to go in via the subframe tower bolt hole. It takes AGES!

Spreading the yoke so the linkage will fit.

All back together and connected.

Has fuel and spark but not starting yet.

Strobe on it next weekend.
