Hi all, I'm sorry to say Roy passed away last Wednesday due to cancer.

He had nearly 10,000 posts to his name helping out in the technical section.

A big fan of Mini's, TR7's, Morris Minors, Steam and Diesel locomotives. He was a driver at the Bo'ness vintage railway and has 50,000 posts to his name on the Official Morris Minor Forum. He will be missed by many.

He appears to have not posted on here since 2014, but I thought it polite to let everyone know. I can't find it mentioned anywhere else on the forum. please merge or delete if duplicated.

Another of us "old 'uns" gone. RIP Roy.
He was always able to put a practical view on how to do things in an easy way.
Very sad news indeed.

I'm very sad to read about Roy.  I'm new to the forum and was just looking around when I found it.  I grew up in Roy's home town of Strathaven he used to handbrake his Minor into our road to collect a friend who he gave a lift to university.  When he and friends built a Mini for the Players No6 Autocross Championship we used to go and watch.  Then he built a lovely Elf rally car.  Roy was respected for the depth of his engineering knowledge and enthusiasm behind the wheel then and I'm not surprised he became a valuable technical contributor.  Condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad about Roy. He has apparently been ill for the previous 2 years and why he stopped posting regularly. He was a BSC engineering and that was reflected in his car work along with a totally logical mind, not known as Dr Spock for nothing or doom watch in one work place. The story of his autocross car is an object lesson in how to do things well on the cheap. He was at uni at the time and had no money, so everything was cost saving.

A very sad loss to a very nice man and prolific poster over 50,000 on the Morris Minor forum .Roy was old school and did jobs properly without spending silly money and noticed this when I recently bought his Triumph TR7 which is spot on .
