So you now have Mini stub axles with a female (3/8 or 1/2"?) unf thread in the end? I suppose you could also counterbore for a bit more strength.

Basically yes.

I did contemplate having a screw in threaded insert so I could change bolt size or swap out damaged threaded parts but I need my own lathe for that.

Best with an off the shelf bolt for the same reason. You could use a counter bore bit to add a sleeve or top hat bush, or just allow the shank to fit in. I googled up the Midas Gold's effort, yours is a much more elegant solution.

Thanks did it 20 years ago. But effectively just copied it from a Metro running coils.

Point to note for anyone else do not think you can just fit Metro arms as there are a number of differences. The pivot shaft length and the kick out. Mine was set to give an aditional 1" track each side which created other issues. The top mounting position for the shocks and none standard spacing between the brake backplates. Think ARB mounting.

Thanks for the replies guys

I understand what your are saying now about the beam rotating so I'm going to reinforce the plate of the car where the seats would be and it bolts to so it can't move/bend.

One point I didn't now understand was when you said the bolting on points were not far enough apart? They are further apart in both directions compared to a normal beam so what makes you think they are not far enough apart or have I misunderstood it?
Also did you reinforce your turrets at all because I think they will be strong enough as it is but if you have a picture of strengthened ones I would think about doing that. Thanks
