Thought I would sort out my non-canceling indicators with a new indicator assembly, also pleased to get rid of some cable joints.

I have changed the handbrake rubbers for the 2nd time in 3 years with original replacements which hopefully will last longer

Whilst its out, I am going to do the last of the panel work required on the front end.

So far, its inner wing O/S, outer Wing O/S and hopefully not too much more.

Cheers

Ben

Wow Ben, you don't hang around, could you add replacing the heater hoses with black to the other works.

Many thanks

John

Bit more done today.

Starting with removal of the subframe

yRrUqEJ.jpg

And then the remaining front end parts and brightwork

0uByuEW.jpg

kS88hck.jpg

Nothing more now than to cut off the front

cXOc0Ze.jpg

I am going to re-use the front panel which requires just a few minor repairs but will be replacing both inner and other wings, a panels, scuttle and have now noticed it needs the inner wing to x member reinforcers too.

We knew the front end needed replacing some 3 years ago when it first came here but it was decided there was enough life in it so that the work could wait. Now the time is right and it really does need it

That's good going, I don't think I was anywhere near that back in 87 :) and they were less than 10 years old then.

Good to see it's being used and not locked up in a garage

Sorry guys, been off sick for a few days unfortunately so I'm now a bit behind.

Here is the front panel and front subframe that I removed ready to go off for blasting

DGhZ6Xx.jpg

Whilst I was away, they were taken over to Martin at MJG Grits to be taken car of and were waiting for me this morning back at the workshop

wjLryqQ.jpg

Considering how crusty the subframe looked, it has come up pretty much perfectly. I am surprised indeed!

And the front panel.

5hxuWva.jpg

I now need to remove the remains of the old inner and outer wings from it and install a pair of new headlamp panels.

Under all of the filler was some particularly nasty welding

JKQ7cHE.jpg

B9v1bwU.jpg

Z27gJQM.jpg

But that aside, its in fine fettle.

Now back to the car.

The rest of the inner wing remains need to be carefully removed. I started with the better side

Qf4FA1T.jpg

Not too bad. Some minor repairs to carry out and some cleaning up to do but pretty happy with that.

Now the other side.... The worst side....

ks3BpqK.jpg

I drilled the reinforcer gusset and hit it with a hammer and it started to peel

PpioYji.jpg

hmmmmm...

Then I cut a chunk off

4wnrTRY.jpg

That is terrible and I am pleased that its being replaced. It is certainly in a state under the big patches. Folks, don't patch over rusty holes or this happens and you can't see it.

And this reveals that there are some unexpected repairs required

MndCP9h.jpg

Ill get the rest removed and go from there.

Cheers

Ben
